The night air has had a nip of cold in Blackwood for the past few days. Spring was quickly approaching, but it was obvious there was still a few weeks before the air would warm. Plants were waking from their dormancy as the animals who hibernate slowly stumbled from their dens. While most of the fawnlings in Blackwood were tucked away against the cold, Yaretzi made her way through the forest that stood between Widow’s Hollow and the Southern Pass. The area was not usually too dangerous for a patrol, sometimes the cats liked to come down from the mountains if prey was hard to find. An occasional trespasser came through the Southern Pass, but they were almost always stopped by the Mountain Sentinels that kept their eyes and ears towards the pass and surrounding area. Zeus and Hades, the stoat brothers that Yaretzi had rescued when they were barely old enough to leave the mother, ran ahead and jumped between attacking each other in mock fighting to chasing mice and other prey from

Morning trots with his family had become the highlight of the day for Chance. Today, the golden stag was accompanied by Severina and his dog Ash. The morning sun warmed their backs and their leisurely trot took them around the Silverwood. Fawns of all ages were up and about at this time of morning, only the youngest still slept cuddled next to their mothers. Whilte his siblings had fawns to call their own, and even a few grandfawns, Chance remained fawnless by his own choice. He had taken longer to grow up, but he had enjoyed life to its fullest and had just started to mature into a full fledged adult. He was still his flirtatious, sarcastic, lovable self, Chance had just learned how to tone it down a bit and wasn’t quite as obnoxious as he was at a younger age. Maybe this year he would finally decide to have a fawn with one of his girls… but only if they asked, because to him, it should always be the doe’s choice. Keeping herself paced beside Chance, Severina made sure to keep Ash

Like most days, Leona made her way through the Tanglewood as she scouted out the area north of Camp Azure. Others patrolled the area as well, but they patrolled in groups of twos and threes. Leona took her position as a scout seriously so she did so alone, looking for anything useful and kept an eye out for predator trails. It was easier for her to sneak through the swamps without worrying about others in a scouting party. It also gave the white doe time to think and allow her mind to wander in her day to day activities. Coming around a rather large tree she cautiously peered into the branches overhead. Just last week a few soldiers had hunted down a cat that liked to hunt in this particular area. The branches were just covered enough to hide even the largest cats between the leaves and vines, making it near impossible to spot a predator until it landed on your back. Although unpleasant, Leona had seen what one of the cats can do to an Oakfern… and she didn’t want to be the next grisly
